Wardrobe Design & Cost planner

Make sure Doors/ Windows are easy to operate in presence of wardrobe. No Switchboard access should get blocked by wardrobe. Also if your have to hide a door or a window behind wardrobe, make sure window is closed & protected by outside by wind / rain / dust.

For openable door - Minimum clearance is required. For shutter which is 1'6" (1 feet & half) in width, open-able door/shutter clearance should be 2' ( 2 feet)

For Sliding door - also requires minimum clearance can be 1'6" . Because you need place to stand in front of wardrobe while using it.

With Sliding doors you get access to only one side at a time. That can be of hassle if you need to randomly access different corners every-time.

As per standard dimensions suggested by Architects & Designer:

Standard width : 3 feet
Standard height : 7 feet tall (adjusted as per home ceiling height)
Standard Depth : 1 feet 6 inches to 2 feet of depth.

For every additional 3 feet of cabinet you make there will be reduction of Rs 4000 in Labor charges.

For Example : for 3 feet wide & 7 feet tall wardrobe costs is say Rs 21,000 then second/additional 3 feet will cost Rs 17,000.
Cost of material doesn't reduce but labour can with increase in scope of work.

You have enough wardrobe space. You may also plan to have separate section inside wardrobe for Partyware or have a additional section for common items for family.

In L or U shaped wardrobes, corners are not easy to access. To utilise space special hardware are available in market like Sliding Cloth Hanger. You can hang your clothes to it & then it can be slide/pushed inside corner.

Small space can be reduced from each wardrobe to form a new separate cabinet section.

For example: if your wardrobe is 10 feet long - you could make 3 cabinets/divisions of 2'9". This way you are left with 1 feet & 9". You can make up for common wardrobe which can store Nightwear, Medicines, accessories.

Drawers are Easy to access & increases space utilisation. On a shelf stack of clothes or any object that is kept on back side is not easily accessible, whereas if it is a drawer like basket, it becomes easy to use.
